  LSP Introduction (power point)

As everyone knows, Linux has started to become a real threat to Microsoft's Windows NT/2000 Server. Everyone knows that Linux is very stable, compared to Microsoft. However, Linux is very difficult to use due to an entirely different administration GUI, and even has no GUI for many things.

Thus, there are so many small business out there which already have NT servers, they do want a stabler OS like Linux. However, they even don't know how to transfer all their files to a Linux server, they don't know how to setup mail servers on Linux, not to mention more advanced configurations! And they also don't know how to set up a web server on Linux, neither how to create a virtual directory!
This list goes on to: DNS server, DHCP sever, Service manager. The last and most important thing: how to share files with Windows 98/NT computers on their LAN!

LSP can help a user to migrate from Windows to Linux automatically, it can perform following things:

1. File Sharing
LSP will automatically transfer all shared files on Windows server to Linux server directly. And all permission property still preserved ( for example, a directory "C:\lsp" which is shared as "LSP", and only read by Adam and written by Emma)
LSP also provides a File Manager which looks like that on Microsoft. The most important function is that it will allow user to configure the above file sharing permissions on this File Manager GUI with mouse! (Based on Samba)
2. Users, Groups and Passwords
LSP will automatically transfer all users/ passwords/ groups to Linux. And it will also rebuild relationship between group and users!
Windows clients can login to same domain without changing domain name, password, username......
3. Mail Server
LSP will establish a mail server automatically, and provide users with a GUI similar to Microsoft Exchange server, and even easier than Exchange! (Based on sendmail, and postfix for Mandrake, qmail upon request).
Removing stocked email in queues, configuring max email size, time to give up.... can be done by just a few clicks! Users can get emails without changing any configuration.
4. Web/FTP Server
LSP will establish a Web Server (based on Apache server), and a FTP server (Wu-FTP or Pro-FTP). And configure this web server according to original Windows configurations. Including mapping between virtual directory and real directory. Also, all original Web pages/FTP files on the Windows server will be moved to the Linux server automatically! Their website remains all the same, even URLs are preserved. Configuring security for each individual virtual directory just like what you do with Microsoft IIS!
5. DHCP Server
6. Remote Control
You can control Linux server with our GUI from a remote Linux machine through internet! You can also now remotely access applications other than LSP!
7. Printer Server
You can set up a printer server easily without worrying about printer drivers!
Removing stocked printing jobs are just a few clicks away!
8. Service Manager
Starting/ stopping mail / FTP/ Telnet / File sharing / Web server by one click!
9. Backup/Restore
You can choose to restore system configuration by time and item!

10. File Sharing Summary
Quickly overview all shared directories to all users or any user!
